moving in

I've been hopping from networking site to the other and landing on diverse blogs while following threads of a range of topics. Now, I'm settling down in just one place... here.

I'm not a newbie in the blog-o-sphere as many call it. I've in fact started with 3 blogs already, which have probably drifted away in the world wide web. And so you may ask, why give it another shot?

3 reasons:
1. I need "me time" that is inexpensive but relevant, easy but challenging and fun. This is it.
2. My boss says I write well, hence, I should do something about it. Better yet, let other people be my judge.
3. I'd love to share my creativity and thoughts to other people like you, who happen to be reading this post.

Why "pinay next door"?
I've always been regarded as "the girl next door" among my circle of friends. Wikipedia describes one as "wholesome, unassuming, feminine" and I'd like to believe that I am as such. But instead of the whole cliche, I thought of using "Pinay" - the colloquial term for "Filipina" or the "Filipino woman" - because I'm truly proud of my roots.

What's in store?
I don't mean to compete with the thousands of other blogs out there, but I mean this to be enticing, interesting, even endearing if you may allow. The greatest challenge for me is to give each topic a personal touch without making it "baduy" (English - old fashioned, mushy). Most likely I'll be tackling one of these at a time:

• Life - family, friends, career, self, success, happiness and anything there is that is worth pondering on about the beauty of living

• Relationships - love (and hate) and marriage

• Passion - music, photography, arts, travel and anything that brings out the best in me

Keeping a blog is never easy. I'm sure I'll have to spare some hours of my day just to keep this going. Nonetheless, it's much like moving into a new house. You start anew, know your neighbors and open up yourself to them. Eventually, you'll feel comfortable and get used to it.

So, the Pinay next door is moving in. Hello, neighbors! :)
